I realised that I can have extensions to the front of the layout as well as the back. So I went down to the garage and sorted out some ply etc. and built a small extension. It's built from 4mm ply with a bit of 18mm x 33mm softwood and the usual couple of dowels to hold it in place.
It means I now have an area available for a small goods yard and extra siding. I'll have to lift some of the old track but who cares? It's all part of the fun. :-)
Re-painted 'Days-Gone' Scammell Scarab
As it wasn't a particularly good model and a few dabs of paint turned it into a BR 'mechanical horse', I thought it was worth the effort.
